Description

Candied Puff Corn, also known as Christmas Crack, is a sweet and crunchy holiday treat featuring buttery puff corn coated in vanilla-flavored candy coating and adorned with colorful sprinkles. This easy-to-make snack is perfect for parties, gift giving, or festive snacking.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 2 (3.25-ounce) bags butter flavored puff corn (Chester’s Puffcorn recommended)
  • 1 (16-ounce) box vanilla flavored candy coating
  • Sprinkles (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Puff Corn: Add the butter flavored puff corn to a very large pan or mixing bowl to ensure easy coating later.
  2. Prepare Work Surface: Spread two large sheets of wax paper on the countertop to allow for cooling and setting of the coated puff corn.
  3. Melt Candy Coating: Melt the vanilla flavored candy coating in the microwave according to the package instructions, usually by heating in short intervals and stirring until smooth.
  4. Coat Puff Corn: Drizzle the melted candy coating evenly over the puff corn. Quickly stir the mixture to thoroughly combine and coat all the pieces before the candy hardens.
  5. Spread and Decorate: Immediately spread the coated puff corn onto the prepared wax paper in a single layer. Add colorful sprinkles on top while still wet if desired for a festive touch.
  6. Cool and Store: Allow the mixture to cool completely at room temperature until the candy coating hardens. Store the finished candied puff corn in an airtight container for up to one week to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • Melt the candy coating carefully, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
  • You can use any brand of butter flavored puff corn if Chester’s Puffcorn is unavailable.
  • Add sprinkles only when the coating is still wet to ensure they stick well.
  • Store the finished product in an airtight container to keep it crunchy.
  • Adjust the amount of candy coating if you prefer a thicker or lighter coating.
