Description

Campfire Apple Pie Packets are an easy and delicious outdoor dessert made with sliced apples, warm spices, and a buttery crumble topping, all cooked in foil over a campfire.

Ingredients

  • 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 cup granola or crushed graham crackers
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Aluminum foil sheets

Instructions

  1. Preheat campfire or grill to medium heat.
  2. In a bowl, toss the apple slices with lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Place a handful of the apple mixture in the center of a sheet of aluminum foil.
  4. Top with pieces of butter and a spoonful of granola or crushed graham crackers.
  5. Fold the foil over the mixture and seal the edges to form a packet.
  6. Place the packets on a grill grate or directly on the coals.
  7. Cook for 15–20 minutes, turning occasionally, until apples are tender.
  8. Carefully open packets (watch for steam) and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best results.
  • Packets can be prepped ahead of time and stored in a cooler.
  • Add a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.
