Individual foil‑pack apple crisps perfect for campfires, grills, or ovens.
Ingredients
- 4 cups apples, peeled and thinly sliced
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- ½ cup melted butter
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup all‑purpose flour
- ½ cup quick oats
- ½ tsp baking powder
- Aluminum foil
Instructions
- Build a campfire or preheat grill/oven to 350 °F.
- Cut four 8″×12″ sheets of foil and divide apples among them.
- Mix granulated sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples.
- Combine melted butter, brown sugar, flour, oats, and baking powder; sprinkle mixture over apples.
- Seal each foil packet tightly.
- Cook packets on grate over fire, grill, or in oven for about 20 minutes.
- Open carefully (watch for steam), top with ice cream if desired, and serve.
Notes
- Can be baked in a 350 °F oven or on grill with same timing.
- Pear or freeze packets in advance; thaw before cooking.
- Use tart‑crisp apple varieties (e.g., Granny Smith, Honeycrisp).
- Heavy‑duty foil recommended; double‑up if using regular foil.
- Let rest briefly before opening to avoid steam burns.
