Ingredients
Main Ingredients:
- 1 cup long grain white rice
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cups chicken broth (or water with bouillon)
Seasonings:
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon dried thyme
- ¼ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon salt (adjust if using salted broth)
- ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
Garnish:
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Toasting the Rice: In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add the uncooked rice and stir for 2–3 minutes to lightly toast it.
- Cooking the Rice: Add the chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15–18 minutes until the rice is tender and liquid is fully absorbed.
- Resting and Serving: Remove from heat and let rest, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
- For extra richness, stir in an additional tablespoon of butter at the end.
- You can use vegetable broth for a vegetarian version.
- Brown rice can be substituted but will require a longer cook time and more liquid.
