Description

Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, these buttermilk waffles are perfect for a hearty breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Lightly grease the waffle iron and pour the batter onto the center. Close the lid and cook until golden brown and crisp.
  6. Carefully remove the waffle and repeat with the remaining batter.
  7. Serve hot with your favorite toppings like butter, syrup, or fresh fruits.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the waffles tender.
  • Let the batter rest for 5–10 minutes for fluffier results.
  • You can freeze leftover waffles and reheat them in a toaster.
