Description

These Breakfast Stuffed Puff Pastry Bars are a delightful morning treat combining flaky puff pastry with a savory filling of eggs, cheese, and your choice of bacon, sausage, ham, or veggies. Perfectly golden and portable, they make an easy and satisfying breakfast or brunch option.

Ingredients

Scale

Pastry

  • 1 sheet Puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 tbsp Butter, for greasing
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil, for brushing
  • 1 tbsp Parmesan cheese, grated (optional, for topping)

Filling

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled (or sausage, ham, or veggies)
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
  2. Prepare filling: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Stir in the cooked bacon (or your choice of breakfast meat or veggies) and shredded cheddar cheese evenly into the egg mixture.
  3. Prepare puff pastry: Unroll the thawed puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the sheet into 4 equal rectangles or squares depending on your preferred size for the bars.
  4. Fill and seal: Spoon the prepared egg mixture onto the center of each puff pastry rectangle. Fold over the edges of the pastry to enclose the filling completely, shaping them into bars. Press the edges firmly to seal and prevent leakage during baking.
  5. Prepare for baking: Place the stuffed puff pastry bars on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops of each bar lightly with olive oil to promote browning. Optionally, sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top for added flavor and a crispy finish.
  6. Bake: Bake the bars in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed, and the filling is fully set.
  7. Cool and garnish: Remove from the oven and let the bars cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired to add a fresh, herbal note. Serve warm and enjoy your delicious breakfast bars.

Notes

  • You can substitute bacon with cooked sausage, ham, or sautéed vegetables for a different flavor.
  • Make sure the puff pastry is fully thawed before cutting and filling to avoid tearing.
  • Use parchment paper on the baking sheet to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  • Brush the tops with olive oil for a beautiful golden finish, and Parmesan adds a nice extra savory touch.
  • These bars can be prepped ahead and baked fresh in the morning for convenience.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator and reheat gently before serving.
