Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1 package (10 oz) marshmallows
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
Blueberry Swirl
- 1/2 cup blueberry preserves or blueberry jam
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt (optional, for balance)
- 1/2 cup fresh blueberries (optional, for added texture)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Melt the Butter and Marshmallows: In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the marshmallows and stir continuously until fully melted and smooth.
- Add Rice Krispies: Remove the pot from heat and immediately stir in the Rice Krispies cereal until they are evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.
- Prepare the Blueberry Swirl: In a small microwave-safe bowl, heat the blueberry preserves for 20-30 seconds until slightly thinner and easier to spread.
- Swirl the Blueberry Jam: Pour half of the Rice Krispies mixture into the prepared pan and gently press it down into an even layer. Drizzle part of the blueberry preserves over the top and swirl with a spoon or knife to create a marbled effect.
- Top and Set: Add the remaining Rice Krispies mixture, pressing gently to form another even layer. Drizzle remaining blueberry preserves and swirl again. If desired, sprinkle fresh blueberries on top for extra texture.
- Let Set: Allow the treats to cool and firm up at room temperature for about 30 minutes until they can be cut into squares.
- Serve: Once set, cut into squares and enjoy your vibrant and tasty Blueberry Swirl Rice Krispies Treats!
Notes
- Use unsalted butter for better flavor control, but salted butter can be substituted if preferred.
- For a stronger blueberry flavor, add a little vanilla extract to the marshmallow mixture before mixing with cereal.
- Fresh blueberries add texture and freshness but can be omitted if unavailable.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- To make cutting easier, lightly grease your knife or use a plastic knife to prevent sticking.
