Description

Black Pepper Chicken is a savory and spicy stir-fry dish made with tender chicken pieces, vibrant bell peppers, onions, and a bold black pepper sauce. It’s a quick and flavorful Asian-inspired meal perfect for weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, marinate the chicken with soy sauce, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, and cornstarch. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the marinated chicken and stir-fry until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add more oil if needed, then sauté the garlic, onions, and bell peppers until slightly tender.
  5. Return the chicken to the pan and add sugar, freshly ground black pepper, and water. Stir to coat everything evenly.
  6. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, adjusting salt to taste.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired, and serve hot with rice.

Notes

  • Use freshly ground black pepper for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of black pepper to suit your spice tolerance.
  • You can add other vegetables like broccoli or snap peas for variety.
