Scale
Sauce Base
- 2 Black Garlic Cloves, whole
- 1/2 tsp Fresh Ginger
- 1/3 cup Soy Sauce
- 1/4 tsp Sesame Oil
- 2 Tbsp Brown Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Honey
- 1/2 cup Water
Thickening Mixture
- 1 cup Cool Water
- 1 Tbsp Cornstarch
Instructions
- Blend Ingredients: In a blender, combine the black garlic cloves, fresh ginger, and 1/2 cup of water. Blend for about 20 seconds until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
- Cook Sauce: Pour the blended mixture into a saucepot. Add the soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, honey, and the cornstarch mixture (prepared by mixing 1 Tbsp cornstarch with 1 cup of cool water). Stir everything well to combine.
- Thicken Sauce: Heat the sauce mixture over medium heat and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Continue until the sauce thickens and can coat the back of a spoon.
- Serve: Remove the sauce from heat. Use it immediately as a glaze or dipping sauce for meats, vegetables, or noodles. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for future use.
Notes
- Ensure the cornstarch is fully dissolved in cool water before adding to prevent lumps.
- The sauce can be stored refrigerated for up to one week.
- Adjust sweetness by varying brown sugar or honey according to taste preferences.
- For a thicker sauce, simmer longer or increase cornstarch slightly.
