Ingredients
Scale
Beef Patties
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Buns and Toppings
- 4 sesame seed hamburger buns
- 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
- 8 slices dill pickle
- 4 slices American cheese
- 1/4 cup finely diced onion
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
Special Sauce
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
- Prepare the Special Sauce: In a small bowl, thoroughly mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, sweet pickle relish, white vinegar, sugar, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder until smooth. Cover and refrigerate the sauce until you’re ready to assemble the burgers.
- Form and Season Patties: Divide the ground beef into eight thin patties. Lightly season each side with salt and black pepper, ensuring an even flavor without overpowering the beef.
- Cook the Patties: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Cook each patty for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked through and nicely browned. Once done, transfer them to a plate and set aside.
- Toast the Buns: Lightly butter the cut sides of the hamburger buns. Using the same skillet, toast the buns until they achieve a golden-brown color for enhanced flavor and texture.
- Assemble the Burgers: Start with the bottom bun on a plate and spread a generous amount of the special sauce. Layer on shredded lettuce, diced onions, a cooked beef patty, and a slice of American cheese. Add the middle bun, spread with more special sauce, then top with lettuce, dill pickle slices, another beef patty, and complete with the top bun.
- Serve: Serve the assembled Big Macs immediately while the patties are warm and the buns are toasted, for the best eating experience.
Notes
- Keep the beef patties thin to mimic the authentic Big Mac texture and flavor.
- Avoid over-seasoning the beef to maintain the classic taste.
- You can double the special sauce recipe and store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to one week.
