- 1½ Tbsp yellow mustard
- 1½ Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- Salt & pepper, to taste
Main Ingredients
- 4 (15-oz) cans black eyed peas, drained and rinsed
- 8 slices bacon
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC) and lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Prepare Sauce Mixture: In a bowl, whisk together the ketchup, BBQ sauce, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined. Stir in the drained and rinsed black eyed peas to coat them evenly with the sauce.
- Assemble Dish: Spread the sauced black eyed peas evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- Cook Bacon: Microwave the bacon slices for 1 to 1½ minutes until partially cooked. Chop the bacon into pieces and sprinkle evenly on top of the black eyed peas in the baking dish.
- Bake: Place the baking dish uncovered in the oven and bake for 35 to 45 minutes, allowing flavors to meld and the dish to heat through.
- Broil for Crispiness: After baking, turn on the broiler and broil the dish for a few minutes until the bacon topping becomes crispy and golden brown. Keep a close eye to avoid burning.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your flavorful BBQ black eyed peas as a comforting side or main dish.
