Ingredients
Scale
Hot Dogs and Buns
- 4 hot dog buns
- 4 hot dogs
Cheeses
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 slices mozzarella or American cheese
Other Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- Optional: ketchup, mustard, or relish for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to fully preheat to ensure even cooking.
- Prep the Buns and Cheese: Carefully slice each hot dog bun down the center without cutting all the way through to keep it intact. Line the inside of each bun with one slice of cheddar and one slice of mozzarella or American cheese for a gooey, melty texture.
- Insert the Hot Dogs: Place one hot dog in the middle of each bun, pressing gently to secure the filling and cheese inside the bun.
- Butter the Buns: Lightly spread the softened butter on the outside of each bun; this helps create a crispy, golden crust when air fried.
- Air Fry the Hot Dogs: Arrange two hot dogs in the air fryer basket at a time, buttered side facing out. Cook for 5–6 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking to ensure even browning. The outside should be golden and crispy, and the cheese inside melted.
- Repeat and Serve: Repeat the cooking process with the remaining hot dogs. Serve warm with your choice of condiments such as ketchup, mustard, or relish for added flavor.
Notes
- To prevent sticking and make cleanup easier, line the air fryer basket with parchment paper or apply a nonstick spray before cooking.
- For extra flavor and texture, consider adding pickles or jalapeños inside the bun along with the cheese.
