Description

4th of July Rice Krispie Treats are festive, colorful, and easy-to-make snacks featuring red, white, and blue layers—perfect for Independence Day celebrations.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal, divided
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
  • 6 cups mini marshmallows, divided
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring
  • Red, white, and blue sprinkles (optional)
  • Non-stick spray or butter for greasing

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13-inch pan with non-stick spray or butter.
  2. In a large pot, melt 2 tbsp butter over low heat. Add 2 cups marshmallows and stir until melted. Add red food coloring and stir to desired color. Mix in 2 cups cereal until evenly coated.
  3. Press red layer into the bottom of the prepared pan, using a greased spatula or wax paper.
  4. Repeat the process with 2 tbsp butter, 2 cups marshmallows, and 2 cups cereal for the white layer (no food coloring). Press gently over the red layer.
  5. Repeat again with 2 tbsp butter, 2 cups marshmallows, and 2 cups cereal. Add blue food coloring and mix well. Press on top of the white layer.
  6. Sprinkle with red, white, and blue sprinkles while still warm, if using.
  7. Let cool completely before cutting into squares or shapes.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for more vibrant layers.
  • Do not press layers too firmly to keep treats soft.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
